At the end of last month, individuals with known ties to the drug trade found themselves at the center of attention during a routine traffic stop in North Delta conducted by the Delta Police. During the stop, indicators suggesting involvement in trafficking were observed within the vehicle, leading to the arrest of the suspects. Despite efforts of the officers, no tangible evidence of illicit substances could be initially located.

However, the situation took a significant turn with the arrival of the Traffic Safety Dog Unit’s canine member, K-9 Ziva, accompanied by her skilled handler. Ziva, proficiently trained in drug detection, swiftly began her investigation through the vehicle. Through her search, Ziva successfully unearthed a concealed stash of cocaine and fentanyl concealed within a compartment—a pivotal discovery in the ongoing operation.

While the suspects were subsequently released pending further investigation, which includes thorough lab testing of the confiscated substances, Ziva’s contribution has undoubtedly propelled the case forward.

Kudos to Ziva for a job well done! Good dog.
