Unless you’re on a plane to Cabo with the family, Spring Break can present some challenges about what to do with the kids. If they say ‘I’m bored’ one more time….
Here’s some solutions; all at George Mackie Library. And open to all kids, whether they are kindergartners, tweens or teens.
Unplugged (formerly Maker Mondays)
Monday, 25 (except April 1), 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm. Drop in and let your imagination run full STEAM ahead with Maker Mondays! From art to tech projects and everything in between, we’ll design and make something new each session. Ages 6 – 11.
Lego Club
Tuesdays, March 26, 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm Love Lego? We provide the Lego, you bring your imagination. Come play, create and experiment. Lego Club is a fun afternoon program for kids. Children under 5 must be accompanied by a parent.
Collaging with Green Screen
Saturday, March 23, 2 pm - 4 pm Create a collage with you as the main character! Draw, paint and glue images onto poster board and then we’ll upload it to the green screen app to use as your personal backdrop. Take photos of yourself on a green screen background to insert into your art project. Ages 8 – 11. All supplies will be provided. Registration required.
Spring Break Dance Party
Wednesday, March 27, 2 pm - 3 pm. Time to get in active this Spring. Join us for a fun-filled hour of various dances, such as freeze, as well as activities, and games, such as balloon toss, and Simon Says. A snack will be provided.
TEENS!
Teen Speed Debating
Wednesday, March 27 5:30 pm – 7 pm. Would you like to learn how to argue and win? Join us for an introduction to debating, including pointers on public speaking, with fun topics provided. Learn the principles of sound arguments, which is a skill that can come in handy in many different situations!
Structures: How high can you go? A STEAM program
Thursday, March 28, 1 pm – 2 pm Using skill, strategy and luck, how high can you build a structure using only spaghetti and marshmallows? Or newspaper and masking tape? Come join us for this fun STEAM program.
