Skilled, versatile, and stylistic dancers with a strong ability to pickup choreography and freestyle, and who are seeking to perform before a crowd of thousand might wish to check out live auditions happening this weekend in Langley.
Introduction of a 15-member Bandits Dance Crew at last season’s pro-basketball home games at Langley Events Centre (LEC) was so well received, they want to keep it going, said team vice-president of business operations Andrew Savory.
So, the Bandits are hosting dance auditions this Sunday afternoon at LEC at 1 p.m.
Tryouts are expected to take about two hours. Dancers will be asked to demonstrate their talent in a group dynamic, as well as with an individual performance.
Stunting, tricking and cheerleading experience are assets but not mandatory, he added.
The free, open call out welcomes dancer 18 years and older, who are asked to audition in casual attire.
Last year’s tryouts saw 75 dancers audition for the 15 spots. A similar number or more are expected this weekend, said Savory, noting even dancers selected last year will also have to compete for a spot once again.
Bandits’ Dance Crew is lead by Franics Aranton, who was previously part of the BC Lions dance squad and Brotherhood Dance Group.
Dancing on the crew is a paid position, and they will be expected to perform at this season’s 11 home games. Learn more or register at thebandits.ca.
