UPDATE: Surrey, North Delta players form Team Canada at Senior Little League World Series

Surrey and Delta players are part of Team Canada at the Senior League World Series in Easley, South Carolina.

A Whalley-based team is representing Canada at the Senior League World Series baseball tournament, which began last Saturday (July 29) in Easley, South Carolina.

The tourney, staged by Little League International, features players aged 16 and 17, for the most part.

Team Canada is filled with players who live in Surrey and North Delta, along with a couple from Coquitlam and Langley. The Surrey-based players are Evan Alexander, Bailey Chiasson, Nicolas Fortin, Mitchell Gallagher, Brandon Green, Isaac Kim, Jonah Lee, Levi Mitchell, Lucas Rise, Braden Scott and Matthew Slater. The squad opened the tournament on Saturday afternoon with a 10-0 lost to Asia-Pacific. On Monday, Team Canada dropped a 12-0 decision to Europe-Africa, leading to a consolation-round game against the U.S. East team on Thursday afternoon (Aug. 3).
