Emergency responders raced to a construction site Thursday (Oct. 12) to assist a person seriously injured on Upper Prairie Road in Chilliwack.

Chilliwack Fire Department crews, RCMP and BC Ambulance Service headed to the scene, after the call came in at about 8:20 a.m.

The patient was reportedly not trapped but was seriously injured, and in need of transport to hospital.

A landing zone was set up nearby for transporting the patient from the site, south of the highway on Upper Prairie Road, near Prairie Central Road.

Air ambulance was in the air, and en route to hospital with the patient by 9:25 a.m.

In response to a question if the accident site on Upper Prairie Road was the location of the Trans Mountain pipeline, officials with Trans Mountain were able to confirm that it was not their worksite.
