The purpose of the crime beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. It is submitted weekly by the Delta Police Department. If you see anything occurring that you believe to be suspicious, call 911 for in progress crimes and emergencies or 604-946-4411 for other assistance.
The following are some of the calls police responded to in the previous week:
• June 14, 11000-block 88th Ave.: Complainant reported their company vehicle, left in an open parking lot overnight, had its catalytic converter valued at $1,000 stolen. No other damage was done to the vehicle, which was towed from the scene.
• June 14, 8000-block Nordel Way: Two catalytic converters were stolen from company trucks parked in an insecure fenced compound. Time of offence uncertain.
• June 15, 9000-block 117th St.: Complainant reported their vehicle parked in the driveway had been rummaged through sometime overnight and their wallet containing three bank cards was missing. The complainant was advised by the bank that one of the credit cards had been used at a gas station. Police attended the gas station where the suspect was described as a white male, 25-35 years old, wearing black clothing including a long-sleeve Nike sweater and a man purse. Police obtained a photo of the suspect and disseminated to DPD members.
• June 15, 9000-block 113B St.: Complainant reported someone had entered their unlocked vehicle parked in front of their residence and taken their wallet. Police attended the residence and observed there was no damage to the vehicle. Complainant believed they had locked the vehicle. The wallet was described as blue and contained a driver’s licence and debit card, which had already been deactivated. Police advised complainant to make sure no items of value were left in the vehicle in the future.
• June 26, 900-block Highway 91: Police stopped a vehicle clocked at 120 km/h. The driver was charged with driving at an excessive speed and issued a paper warning for tint on the front door window, which must be removed within 20 days. Vehicle was impounded and the driver was given a ride from the scene.
• June 19, area of Watershed Park: Complainant reported their vehicle parked at the Watershed Park had been entered and their driver’s licence and bank cards had been stolen. The complainant had contacted the banks and ICBC and the cards had been cancelled. Complainant indicated two transactions had been made on a credit card.
• June 19, 11000-block 89th Ave.: Complainant reported the catalytic converter had been stolen from their vehicle parked in front of their residence sometime overnight. Approximate damage to the vehicle is $1,000. From CCTV video, police were able to identify a possible suspect. Photos of a suspicious vehicle were added to police logs.
• June 19, 120th Street and 93A Avenue: Police conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle observed leaving a liquor store in the City of Surrey and driving into Delta. The driver showed signs of liquor consumption and two breath samples provided read “fail.” Vehicle was impounded.
