The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. It is submitted weekly by the Delta Police Department.

The following are some of the calls the Delta Police responded to in the previous week:
• July 5, 8:48 p.m., 600-block Derwent Way: Complainant reported that sometime overnight his camper had been broken into while parked at a local business. Items stolen include a small TV/DVD player valued at $1,200 and a tent valued at $600. Video surveillance did capture images of a black truck pulling into the lot and an unknown male exiting the vehicle.
• July 6, 12:46 p.m., 8900-block 120th St.: Complainant reported the theft of a grey 2007 Toyota Matrix from the parking lot of a local business. The vehicle was parked with the keys in the ignition. Four summer tires in the rear of the vehicle were also stolen. Vehicle was entered into police database.
• July 6, 12:23 p.m., 8600-block 111th St.: Complainant reported that the passenger side window of their vehicle was broken while parked outside their residence. Approximately $3 in change was missing. No witnesses.
• July 6, 6:37 p.m., 11600-block 88th Ave.: Complainant reported that sometime overnight their vehicle, which was parked in front of their residence, had been entered and rummaged through. An unknown amount of change was taken. Approximately $500 damage was done to the driver’s side door lock and ignition/steering system. No suspects or witnesses.
• July 7, 10:38 a.m., 11800-block 80th Ave.: Complainant reported the theft of a JEC stereo valued at $1,000 from a vehicle parked in the parking lot of a local business. The passenger side window of the vehicle was smashed to gain access.
• July 7, 1:34 p.m., 9000-block 120th St.: While conducting enforcement, police observed a vehicle in a parking lot pull a U-turn, almost striking a parked car, then leave out a back lane. Police followed and stopped the vehicle after observing the driver make quick accelerated turns. The driver refused to provide police a breath sample and was issued a 90-day suspension. The driver’s vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
• July 8, 10:53 a.m., 11500-block 86th Ave.: Complainant reported theft of his motorcycle from the driveway of his residence sometime between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Motorcycle was entered into police database.
