SURREY — Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in a Surrey crash Monday, police tell the Now-Leader.
A cyclist was hurt following a hit-and-run incident in the 16000-block of 64th Avenue around 2:45 p.m.
Police say the man landed in the ditch after being thrown from his bicycle when hit by a vehicle travelling eastbound.
He was taken to hospital in serious but non-life threatening condition, police say.
The driver kept going, according to Surrey RCMP.
Several witnesses were able to record the plate number of the vehicle involved in the incident and it was located at a home nearby.
Police say they took the suspect into custody but that person has since been released, with a pending court date.
“No official charges have been laid yet as the investigation is ongoing,” said Surrey RCMP Corporal Scotty Schumann.
