Researcher and policy analyst Jacquie Miller will be running as the B.C. Green Party’s candidate in Delta North.

Miller, who grew up in North Delta, had previously worked for the Government of the Northwest Territories as an analyst, then manager, in its resource and environmental management regime, specifically in relation to major non-renewable resource (mining, oil and gas, etc.) and infrastructure projects.

Since moving home to B.C., Miller has worked as a researcher, policy analyst, grant writer and project manager for First Nations clients and has been an active B.C. Green Party organizer, working to be the change she wants to see in the world.

“I’m proud to run as the B.C. Green candidate in my hometown riding of Delta North,” Miller said in a release to media. “I’m running to give Delta North voters the opportunity to elect a new government driven by integrity, responsibility and commitment to the public interest.”

Miller said that as a member of the legislative assembly she will use her advanced policy knowledge, interdisciplinary education and hard work ethic to represent the community of North Delta.

“I’m hearing from voters who’ve lost trust in the other parties and who are hungry for a real alternative that will put the public interest first. I am proud to bring my breadth of experience in government, policy and community organizing to present an exciting new and viable alternative to the voters of Delta North and to the B.C. legislature.”

Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Green Party, said he welcomed Miller’s nomination.

“Jacquie is a fantastic candidate with deep roots in Delta,” he said. “Her extensive experience in resource and environmental management have equipped her with the knowledge and skills required to be an exemplary MLA.

“She is deeply passionate about the need for responsible government and innovative, sustainable solutions that are the future of this province. She would be an excellent representative for the people of Delta North.”
