Thrifty Foods set to officially open in White Rock May 16

It’s official.

Thrifty Foods is set to open the doors of its new White Rock location with a grand opening event on Thursday, May 16.

The long-awaited supermarket brand will open its doors with a ribbon-cutting ceremony starting at 8:30 a.m. on May 16, according to the South Surrey & White Rock Chamber of Commerce website, with the first 250 customers set to receive a $25 gift card.

Thrifty Foods’ new store was announced for the Miramar Village location about two years ago, with questions about its opening date constantly circulating in social media groups and posts.

A Thrifty Foods media representative confirmed Thursday, May 16 “is the date of the official grand opening event.”

Doors are schedule to open at 9 a.m.

Attendees can enjoy easy store entry from the Thrift Avenue parkade, and get 90 minutes free when they register at the pay station.

“We can’t wait to meet you!” said store manager Christina Messinezis, in the chamber post.
