A popular South Surrey Mother’s Day destination — Glades Woodland Garden — is once again pre-selling tickets for that weekend.
Early booking is advised for this memorable treat for mothers — or any other special person in your life — as the garden’s Mother’s Day weekend offers a combination of live music and what the City of Surrey bills, in a media release, as “vibrant displays of blooming rhododendrons and azaleas along the picturesque trails.”
Tickets for the special weekend event at the garden (457 172 Street) are $8.25, plus tax, and are currently available for purchase at surrey.ca/glades.
Opening hours for the Mother’s Day event are May 11 and 12, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The release suggest visitors on those days may want to bring a picnic to enjoy on the garden’s south lawn, overlooking its tranquil pond.
Refreshments from Glades’ on-site beverage and snack vendor are also available.
To avoid over-crowding, entry times to the garden are scheduled every 60 minutes.

The 15-acre property boasts more than 3,500 mature rhododendrons, azaleas and companion plants, some reaching heights of more than six metres (20 feet). The garden also features an extraordinary collection of heritage trees and offers many gathering spaces.
Visitors are cautioned, however, that the garden isn’t wheelchair-accessible. Sturdy, close-toed shoes are advised, since pathways are covered in bark mulch.
The regular Glades season, from May 4 through June 30, features Saturday and Sunday openings only, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Additional street parking is available along 4 Avenue.
For regular days, entry is $7.50 plus tax for general admission, $5.50 plus tax for seniors (55+) and free for children (12 and under).
