Parents and guardians looking to register their preschool-aged children into the year-long program in Surrey will be provided the opportunity to do so on various dates, as it is being staggered by each community in the city.

Preschool programs at multiple city centres throughout Surrey will be running next school year for children age 3 to 5, with registration opening early next month.

Early registration for next school year, 2024-25, will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 7:30 a.m. It will open in a couple different formats, including online, in-person and by phone.

“Our preschool programs offer a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment that fosters respect and compassion in all children,” Corrie Elliott, manager of preschool programs for the city of Surrey, said in a news release.

“We provide a responsive approach to early learning that embraces all areas of child development, promotes positive self-image, and encourages these characteristics in all children through to adulthood.”

The first batch of registrants will be for Fleetwood, Guildford and Fraser Heights residents on the Tuesday, while the following day will be for Cloverdale and Whalley residents. Thursday, Feb. 8 will be for South Surrey and Newton families to register their children.

To register, individuals can go to the city’s website at surrey.ca/register, visit a recreation facility in-person or call 604-501-5100. Before registration opens, those wanting to take part are asked to create a MySurrey account online and update their information.
