North Delta crime beat, week of Nov. 6

The purpose of the crime beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. It is submitted weekly by the Delta Police Department. If you see anything occurring that you believe to be suspicious, call 911 for in progress crimes and emergencies or 604-946-4411 for other assistance.

The following are some of the calls police responded to in the previous week:

• Oct. 31, 900-block Cliveden Ave.: Complainant reported that sometime between Oct. 27 and 31, the driver-side window of their white Mercedes Benz had been smashed and a pair of glasses and perfume worth approximately $380 had been stolen from the vehicle. No prints were available as the vehicle had already been repaired. CCTV footage to be provided from site manager for review.

• Oct. 30, 1300-block Derwent Way: Complainant reported the theft of approximately $2,000-$3,000 worth of furniture from the warehouse of a local business. CCTV revealed the suspect vehicle to be a U-Haul truck, but its licence plate and the suspects were not seen in the footage. Unknown suspects had cut the lock on the gate and entered approximately five semi-trailers, removing various items. It is unknown how many items have been stolen at this time. Complainant to contact neighbouring businesses for additional CCTV to review for possible identification of suspects by police.

• Oct. 31, 8300-block 92nd St.: Complainant reported they had observed on their CCTV an unknown suspect break into their vehicle and steal various items while it was parked at a commercial facility. Complainant was out of the country and had a friend attend the location to ensure the vehicle was secured. Police did attend and confirmed vehicle was locked, with no signs of forced entry. Police are waiting for complainant to provide the CCTV footage and a list of stolen items.

• Nov. 1, North Delta Public Safety Building, 11375 84th Ave.: Complainant reported being the victim of fraud after a fake Instagram profile requested additional money after complainant had sent intimate photos, and then $300 to the unknown account prior to notifying police. Complainant was advised not to send any further money and to block the user, as well as not to send intimate photos in the future.

• Nov. 3, 500-block Derwent Way: Complainant reported, an attempted break-and-enter to a local business in the early morning hours. Police attended the scene and observed footage of an unknown suspect cutting the chain link fence, entering the property, triggering the alarm and running off the property. Suspect entered on foot with a beige-looking backpack and dressed in all black. Damage to the fence was approximately $200. Nothing was stolen and no further damage was observed.

• Nov. 4, 11800 82nd Ave.: Complainant reported the theft of a package from the front door of their residence. CCTV shows an unknown male get out of a blue Dodge Ram, walk up to the front door and steal the package containing a Pokémon Booster Box valued at $187. Complainant is to provide the receipt and CCTV footage for follow up.
