Delta is beta testing a new virtual assistant on the city’s website, and residents can help selecting a name for the chatbot.

The virtual assistant, powered by OpenAI, has been designed to improve user experience on the City of Delta website (, streamlining navigation and improving accessibility, according to a press release.

With the chatbot now up and running in beta phase, city staff are looking to the community for help choosing its name.

“Our new virtual assistant will play a pivotal role in enhancing the user experience on our website and the naming contest presents a unique opportunity for residents to get involved,” Mayor George Harvie said in a press release.

“Our community’s creativity and input will play a crucial role in selecting a name that reflects the spirit of Delta and the purpose of this new chatbot.”

To ensure a diverse range of submissions, the contest will be conducted in two phases.
