More than 400 brave souls plunged into the frigid waters of Boundary Bay on Sunday to celebrate the start of 2024.

Many in costumes took part in the 43rd annual event, with the line up for registration lasting until minutes before the swim began. Hundreds more chose to stay warm and dry on shore as they cheered on friends and family taking part in the swim, and all present were able to partake in family-friendly entertainment like face painting, marshmallow roasting, children’s activities and a drum circle, as well as hot dogs and hot chocolate provided by the Tsawwassen Boundary Bay Lions Club.

Although it was relatively mild for Lower Mainland standards at around 7c, the waters of Boundary Bary were a chilly 6c.Trophies and prizes were awarded to the top three swimmers, as well as the oldest swimmer and the person who traveled the farthest to take part in the swim.

Congrats to the Top 3:

1st Place: Riley Garbo

2nd Place: Serge Zhuravel

3rd Place: Harlan Theaker

Congratulations to the Oldest Swimmer, at 85 years of age, Agnes Jackson (sporting a memorable clown costume, to boot!).

Our furthest swimmers made it all the way from Australia!
