Tickets for Beach House Theatre’s popular summer shows on sale Tuesday

In South Surrey, stage at Blackie Spit Park for ‘Robin Hood’ and ‘King Arthur’ tales

SURREY — Tickets for Beach House Theatre’s popular summer shows go on sale Tuesday morning (June 20) starting at 7 a.m.

In mid-August, the company will stage The Heart of Robin Hood, along with a more kid-friendly production of The Commedia Tales of King Arthur, on a beachfront stage set up at Blackie Spit Park in South Surrey.

“Our tickets sell out fast,” the company notes on its website, beachhousetheatre.org.

Beach House aims to “connect the arts with the local community, to inspire artistically minded youth and to expose theatre-goers to the special charm of Crescent Beach.”

The Heart Of Robin Hood, written in 2012 by David Farr of the Royal Shakespeare Company, has received critical acclaim in London, New York and Toronto.

Beach House Theatre is among the first companies in Canada to produce the “epic” show.

“We are thrilled to be able to bring this wonderfully imaginative story to our audience,” the company says on its website.

In Lane Riosley’s new The Commedia Tales of King Arthur, audiences are encouraged to “join Arthur, Guenevere, Merlin and all the Knights of the Round Table on their quest to bring glory to the great kingdom of Camelot. Watch in delight as Arthur and his knights try not to trip over their swords as they battle ogres, dragons, and each other!”

In a post on Beach House Theatre’s Facebook page, artistic director Candace Radcliffe says “things are really coming together for our shows. Fight choreography and training are happening, and it is so inspiring. Costumes are looking fantastic, too. I am very, very excited to start rehearsing. The Heart of Robin Hood is a dream-come-true project for me.”
