• Canucks Playoff Community Watch Parties: dates/times TBD at North Delta Social Heart Plaza, 11415 84th Ave. The City of Delta is hosting free, family-friendly outdoor watch parties at the Social Heart Plaza for every game during the Vancouver Canucks’ highly anticipated playoff run this spring. Bring your friends and family to settle in for an evening of thrilling hockey action and community celebration. Only lawn chairs and blankets are permitted. Whether you’re a die-hard hockey enthusiast or just looking to enjoy a dynamic community event, these watch parties are sure to provide an unforgettable experience.
• Vancouver Landfill Open House: June 8, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., 5400 72nd St. Bring your family and join us for a fun-filled behind-the-scenes tour of the Vancouver Landfill in Delta and find out where your garbage and green waste ends up. Hop inside a piece of landfill equipment; take a guided bus tour of the landfill; learn about zero waste and environmental conservation through hands-on displays; meet the trained hawks and falcons of the Bird Control Team; get creative with face painting, arts and crafts and more; unleash your green thumb and pot some plants; enjoy free food and refreshments; and so much more!
• Delta Amateur Radio Society Annual Field Day: June 22-23 at North 40 Park Reserve. Members of the Delta Amateur Radio Society (DARS) will be participating in the Field Day emergency preparedness exercise June 22-23. The purpose of the exercise is to deploy and operate amateur radio equipment in a remote location, independent of existing power and communication infrastructure. Since its inception in 1933, the annual Field Day event has grown to involve over 35,000 amateur radio operators in North America. Operators, known as “hams,” set up stations in remote locations using emergency power sources such as generators, batteries or solar power, and over a continuous 24-hour period attempt to make contact with as many other amateur stations as possible. DARS will be establishing seven radio stations providing communications using voice, data and Morse code. The park is open to the public and all are welcome to visit from 11 a.m. Saturday to 11 a.m. Sunday. For more information, please visit deltaamateurradio.com/fieldday.

• Bat Talk & Walk: May 30, 7:30 p.m - 10 p.m at Douglas J. Husband Discovery Centre, 4450 Clarence Taylor Cres. Bats are very important animals that are feared and misunderstood by many. Come out for a night of adventure starting with a presentation discussing general facts about bats, bat habitat, where to watch bats at night, how to minimize a bat encounter if you have them feeding or roosting on your property, and ways to support and help local bat populations. Then stroll through a park where you will be able to watch and hear bats in their natural habitat. During the walk, we will discuss echolocation and how to safely watch bats. • Music in the Neighbourhood Concert: June 9, 6:30 p.m. at the North Delta Centre for the Arts, 11425 84th Ave. Please join us at our 5th concert performed by local children and youth (ages 5-18) on piano, harp, violin, viola, flute, guitar and cello, featuring classical music repertoire and world-famous music. We will have both solo performances and ensembles, and many of these kids have been studying music for over 10 years and finished their RCM ARCT level. Admission is free but we are raising funds for BC Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Balding for Dollars program to help the oncology kids fight cancer; your donations would be greatly appreciated.
