• North Delta Family Day Parade and Festival: June 19, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; North Delta Community Park, 11311 84th Ave.; North Delta Family Day is back after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19. Enjoy the parade starting at 11 a.m. at Sands Secondary and then continue the celebration at North Delta Community Park from noon to 4 p.m. The festival will feature children’s activities including bouncy castles, a Lion-themed slide, a blow-up obstacle course, a kiddies’ paddle boat pool and a dunk tank, as well as a stage show with Bhangra dancers, magician Mike Norden, country rock band The Beaten Path and more. There will also be roving entertainers and a caricature artist on site, and exciting high-level softball from Delta Fastpitch. • Delta Amateur Radio Society Field Day: June 25-26; North 40 Park Reserve, Churchill Street at 72nd Street; Operators with the Delta Amateur Radio Society gather each summer for a 24-hour exercise where they try to make contact with as many far-flung amateur stations worldwide as they can. DARS will be establishing seven radio stations from 11 a.m. Saturday through to 11 a.m. Sunday using voice, data and Morse code. The event is used to hone the members’ skills as they set up and operate their equipment in a remote location independent of existing power and communication infrastructure, a useful skill as the society also helps with the city’s emergency communications in the event of a disaster.
