Mayor George Harvie is giving local elementary school students the chance to experience what it’s like to be in charge of the city.

Announced last week, Delta’s new Mayor for a Day contest gives students in Grades 5 to 7 the unique opportunity to get involved in local government and spend time with Mayor Harvie, according to press release. Interested students can fill in an application form (available online at delta.ca) and submit it by email to mayorharvie@delta.ca by May 15.

Once the contest winners have been selected, the Mayor’s Office will contact them to schedule their Mayor for a Day experience, which will include a courtesy shuttle pick up at their school, lunch with the mayor and a tour of his office, where they will learn more about the community they live in.
