Toy Mountain is back at Guildford Town Centre.

The Salvation Army hopes to provide enough toys for 2,600 children across the Lower Mainland, and on Dec. 8 and 9, you can help.

People are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy or cash donation to support the annual toy drive from each day until 9 p.m.

The Salvation Army BC will deliver the toys to children and families in need just in time for Christmas morning.

“The reality is that many parents will have to choose between putting food on the table or putting a gift under the tree,” said Salvation Army Col. Brian Venables. “Giving a new, unwrapped toy or cash donation is a way for British Columbians to get involved and make a direct impact on these families. It’s the smiles on the children’s face and also the look of relief in the eyes of the parents that make a big difference.”

Toy Mountain was started 21 years ago to address the need of families not having the means to provide a gift for their children at Christmas time. Last year, more $65,000 was raised and 7,300 toys were collected, with an approximate value of $350,000.

For people who cannot make it to the event, toys and donations can be dropped off at any Salvation Army location, church or thrift shop. For more information on drop-off locations, visit salvationarmy.ca/britishcolumbia
