The Surrey Historical Society’s latest “memory social” will take place in the Fleetwood community.
It’s one of six sessions in which longtime Surrey residents and their families can meet and share their life stories in a relaxed atmosphere. The society is collecting and recording these memories, to preserve them for future residents of Surrey.
Members of the historical society, local historians, archivists and Surrey residents will come together at the Fleetwood Community Centre (15996 84 Ave.), on Wednesday, Jan. 23 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. to remember Surrey through the years.
Attendees are free to bring photos, letters or artifacts to the informal sessions to further tell their stories.
Two sessions, hosted in Whalley and Newton, have already been hosted. The Fleetwood session is next on the schedule, followed by to-be-announced dates in Port Kells, Crescent Beach and Cloverdale.
Participants attend for free, but they are asked to pre-register by calling Michael Gibbs at 778-593-9989 or emailing michaelegibbs@yahoo.ca.
