Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation (DHCHF) has created an initiative to provide patients and their families the ability to acknowledge the incredible care they’ve received from a special employee while at the Delta Hospital Campus of Care.
Dubbed the Hospital Employee Recognition Opportunity (HERO) program, it works by nominating someone at dhchfoundation.ca/ways-to-give/delta-hospital-hero and donating to DHCHF in their honour. The recognized individual then receives a certificate and a HERO pin to wear on their hospital uniform.
Recently, local nurse Brenda D. from the hospital’s surgical daycare was nominated by a local Delta family for her amazing patient care. Brenda dedicated herself to ensuring that the young patient and her family were well cared for from the beginning to the end of their hospital experience.
“She went above and beyond. We found ourselves in surgical daycare well into the evening and Brenda was simply amazing,” the patient’s mother said in a DHCHF press release. “She was so caring and compassionate. We are truly grateful!”
Delta Hospital is one of the highest-volume day surgery sites in the Fraser Health region, with approximately 7,900 surgeries and endoscopies being performed each year.
“Especially during the busy holiday season, it is important to recognize the remarkable staff at the Delta Hospital Campus of Care who take on a high volume of patients,” DHCHF executive director Lisa Hoglund said in a press release. “Our community is lucky to have Brenda and all the incredible staff working at our campus.”
The Delta Hospital Campus of Care includes the Irene Thomas Hospice and Mountain View Manor long-term care facility.
