Remembrance Day in North Delta will look much different this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
In accordance with recommendations from Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry regarding large gatherings, the City of Delta will not be hosting any in-person public commemorative ceremonies for Remembrance Day, either at Memorial Park in Ladner or at the North Delta Social Heart Plaza.
Instead, the City of Delta will be providing a virtual pre-recorded commemoration on Wednesday, Nov. 11 and will observe two minutes of silence amongst staff and patrons at all Delta facilities at 11 a.m.
“Although we are unable to gather together to pay our respects to the brave people who have kept Canada safe, our veterans and active members of the military are always in our thoughts, especially on Nov. 11. I hope the community will join me in making a donation to the poppy fund and remembering the great sacrifices made on our behalf. Lest we forget,” Mayor George Harvie said in a press release.
The pre-recorded commemoration will be available on the city’s website (delta.ca) and its Facebook page (facebook.com/CityofDeltaBC).
