There’s a new executive director at the helm of the Cloverdale Chamber of Commerce.

Scott Wheatley started work on Monday (Jan. 14), and, according to a press release from the chamber, he hit the ground running.

It’s a busy time of year for the chamber. On top of fulfilling day-to-day responsibilities, the board and its staff are busy preparing for The Clovies, their annual business award gala held in late April.

The new hire follows the resignation of previous executive director Raminder Thomas in November over not seeing “eye to eye” with the chamber’s president Brian Leong.

At the time of the resignation, neither Thomas nor Leong commented further on the matter.

Wheatley has more than 20 years of “professional, director-level experience,” according to the chamber, including overseeing sales, marketing, membership and circulation in past positions. Wheatley, a Delta resident, is also an executive member of the Delta Fastpitch Association, and a district co-ordinator for the Delta chapter of Softball BC.

“We’re excited to have Scott on board,” said Brian Leong, in a press release. “The board of directors and I think he will be very successful in fulfilling the needs of our members and future members.”
