Those plotting to plentify their gardens should make sure they mark their calendars for an upcoming plant sale.

The South Surrey Garden Club is holding its annual plant sale a week earlier this year, on Saturday, May 4 – the largest such sale in South Surrey, according to a release.

More than 2,000 plants – all lovingly cared for by the plant sale’s propagation team – will be available for sale, from sun-loving perennials, shade plants and unique trees to hanging baskets and unusual specimen plants.

Experts will be on hand to help perusers choose the right plant for even the most difficult spots in their garden.

Gardeners will also find gently used tools, soil amendments and gardening gloves for sale.

The Mother’s Day table – always a highlight with the kids – will have special plants and pots perfect for mom, the release noted.

A major fundraiser for the club, the sale supports its monthly speaker series (free to members; $5 for the public), garden tours, workshops, and a number of other activities.

Interested parties may join the South Surrey Garden Club right at the plant sale for just $10, and enjoy all of the club activities this spring and summer.

The sale happens from 9 a.m. to noon at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, 12953 20 Ave., on May 4.
