Canucks fans spend more on merchandise than Calgary Flame fans

eBay Canada did a little research leading into Friday's game when Vancouver Canucks square off with the Calgary Flames.

On Dec. 23rd, the Vancouver Canucks play their old-time rivals, the Calgary Flames.

To add some fuel to the fire, eBay Canada looked into the purchasing behaviours of fans for the two teams and found data that shows Canucks fans are bigger spenders than Flames fans – about 50 per cent more.

Some of the most expensive Vancouver Canucks merchandise purchased on eBay last season include:

  • A 1970 George Gardner jersey for roughly $9,800.
  • A Roberto Luongo #1 Signed Vancouver Canucks Authentic Jersey for about $3,800.
  • A Vancouver Canucks life-sized bobble head for more than $2,000.

And the trend continues this season, with Canucks fans spending roughly 20 per cent more than Flames fans.

So far, one of the most expensive team-related items purchased from the online shopping site is a Canucks NHL jersey worn by Jake Virtanen for about $900.

Friday’s game kicks off at 6 p.m. in Calgary (5 p.m. in Vancouver) at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
