A group of young Delta gymnasts is off to Hawaii this week to test their skills in two competitions in Oahu.

The 16-strong Delta Gymnastics team, ranging in age from 7 to 15, will compete over the next two weeks against international teams from Europe, the Pacific region and North America in the Aloha Gymnastics Festival (Jan. 11 to 13), as well as the Gymnastics in Paradise Meet (Jan. 18 to 20).

“Hawaii is a great destination because there is no other competition location that will allow our athletes the same international experience.” Delta Gymnastics’ women’s competitive program coordinator Jennifer Dober said in a press release. “These events are an incredible opportunity for the gymnasts to expand their competition experience, perform with a wide variety of levels, practice at a completely different location and learn about the culture of the area.”

“The Hawaiian clubs are so friendly and accommodating; they are very flexible in allowing our gymnasts to train in their club prior to the competitions so the girls are exposed to other gym set ups, facilities and coaches,” Dober added.
