Vancouver's Ryan Kubic will hit the ice in Shawnigan Lake

Vancouver Giants goaltender Ryan Kubic has been invited to the Vancouver Canucks’ prospects development camp.

It runs July 4 to 7 in Shawnigan Lake.

“It means a lot,” said Kubic of being invited to the camp. “When you see the kind of players who have gone through their camps and the fact that my first NHL camp is in Vancouver, I’m really excited for it.”

The 18-year-old os from St. Andrews, MB.

“This opportunity is a great one for Ryan and will really help with his development,” said Giants general manager Glen Hanlon.

“It’s always nice to see our players recognized, especially by our hometown NHL team.”

Kulic, a second round pick by the Giants in the 2013 Western Hockey League bantam draft, played 50 games for the Giants last year in his rookie season.

He posted a 3.31 goals against average to go along with a .898 save percentage and set the Vancouver franchise record shutout streak after not allowing a goal in over three games of action in late November and early December.
