He spent a few minutes with Times sports reporter Gary Ahuja to answer some questions about who he is on and off the ice.
How old were you when you first skated: I was on the ice when I was one-year-old, just walking around. And I started skating when I was three.
Hockey hero: Mike Modano. I grew up idolizing him. I had an uncle who lived in Texas and I took a liking to him (Modano).
Last book you read: Right now, a Canadian history book for a class I am taking. The last book I read was back in high school, Lord of the Flies.
Pre-game ritual: Just get a good sleep and a good meal in me. I usually like to have eggs and toast in the morning and then some sort of chicken for my pre-game meal.
Favourite meal: Fish and perogies.
Last concert you saw: Shania Twain, back in Saskatoon.
Pump up music: Probably something by ACDC.
Other sport you would play: Baseball or golf.
If you couldn’t play hockey, what would you do: I think I would like to be an engineer, probably a mechanical engineer. I have always been interested in figuring out how things work.
Favourite subject in school: Physics.
Biggest hockey name from your hometown: Not a lot of players have made it from St. Brieux. My brother Tyler played for Regina and now plays for the University of Saskatchewan. And Jeremy Creurer, who played for Everett, but had to quit because of concussions.
Most goals in a game: Six, back in peewee.
Favourite thing about hockey: Just the competition, going out there and challenging yourself against other players.
Ultimate golf foursome: Tiger Woods, Mike Modano and my brother.
How do you relax: I like to golf, or do something outside. I am an outdoors-type of guy, I like to hunt, fish, or go out on snowmobiles.
Teammate most likely to cheat at cards or golf: Taden Rattie.
Biggest prankster on the team: Darian Skeoch.
