Re: “Theatre stuff from stolen trailer found strewn on Surrey roadside,” the Now-Leader online.
Recently, a Royal Canadian Theatre Company trailer was stolen, containing irreplaceable sets, props and costumes, all of which were dumped in a secluded wooded roadside.
We are a charity and operate on a very tight budget, so this was a disastrous thing to have happen.
But our amazing community – and not just the theatre community but the community at large – gathered round to support us with offers of help, kind words and enough money (over $500) to help pay our deductible and repair some of the damage to our stuff.
Thank you to the media for spreading our tale of woe. Thank you to the RCMP for working to try to track down our missing trailer. Thank you to Cindy Sleeman and Stacey Sherback for getting the ball rolling to help us. And thank you, everyone, for being there for us.
The old saying goes, “a friend in need is a friend indeed,” and we feel very rich in the friendship department!
So on behalf of Royal Canadian Theatre Company, our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you.
