John Alan Macdonald, 78, of North Delta, died peacefully on May 23, 2025 at Royal Columbian Hospital.
He was born on April 20, 1947, to Alan James Macdonald and Doris "Jeannie"Macdonald (Wilshaw) in Vancouver.
John was part of the first graduating class of Sentinel Secondary School in North Vancouver and later attended both UBC and BCIT. John self-published multiple historical texts including a collection of war letters as well as detailed work into the Kennedy Trail and North Delta History & Heritage.
He married Brenda Meyer (née Timleck) in 1981 and they had two children, Christine and Brian (Laura). He is also survived by his sisters Jeannie (Jim) and Gail, brother Bruce as well as nieces and nephews.
Over more than 30 years, John worked for BC Hydro and PowerTech Labs before retiring as a member of BC Hydro's Generation Division.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 12th at 12pm at North Delta Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life at George Mackie Library at 1pm.
