Cindy Surinder Ring (nee Sangha)

January 22, 1957 – March 22, 2021
Cindy Surinder (Sangha) Ring passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on March 22, 2021. She was born on January 22, 1957 to Sam and Jagdish “Jackie” Sangha and grew up in Coquitlam. She enjoyed playing the piano, tap dancing, basketball, softball, and cruising around in her Mom’s car once she turned 16.
After graduating from Centennial Secondary in 1975, she studied nursing at Douglas College. Cindy graduated with an Associate in Psychiatric Nursing in 1979 as the class valedictorian. In 1984, she fulfilled her dream of moving to Hawai’i and spent 6 years working at Kāhi Mōhala Hospital in Ewa Beach.
She was an expert tour guide to the many family and friends who visited over the years. Her love of the islands never faded and she frequently visited after moving back to the mainland.
Hawai’i also brought her the love of her life. Cindy met Mike Ring one night at a restaurant in 1990. She fell in love with the bearded fisherman and by the end of the year she moved with him back to his hometown of Seattle. She was happy he wasn’t from a small town because she was prepared to follow him anywhere!
After they were married in 1993, Cindy and Mike welcomed their daughter, Jasmin. They then moved to Surrey in 1996 so Mike could join his father-in-law’s business.
Their second daughter, Kiana, was born soon after. Cindy was the ultimate hostess and event planner, and their house was always full of people. She was known for her delicious cooking and strong margaritas!
Cindy loved to listen to music and was a massive Elton John fan for over 40 years. In recent years, she discovered the smooth sounds of Bruno Mars. She attended his Vancouver concert on back-to-back nights and splurged to see him perform in Las Vegas. She could often be found re-watching her concert videos!
Cindy dedicated herself to raising her daughters, Jasmin and Kiana. She took great pride in their achievements. She knew all their friends and became a second mother to many. She was greatly involved at her children’s schools and was the PAC President and Dry Grad Chair. Cindy was also the best raffle organizer around!
Cindy was preceded in death by her mother, Jagdish (Jackie), and numerous beloved family and friends. She is survived by her husband Michael, daughters Jasmin and Kiana, father Sam, sisters Janik (Rodger) and Lori (Darryl), and a large extended family.
A celebration of Cindy’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CKNW Kids’ Fund.
