Former Mountie man charged in connection to string of ‘high profile’ sexual offences

A former RCMP officer has been charged in connection to a string of sexual offences that took place in February 2019 near an all-girls private school on Vancouver’s west side.

According to a release on Wednesday, Vancouver police charged Andrew James Seangio, 35, with seven counts of indecent act, three counts of exposing himself to persons under the age of 16 and one count of voyeurism.

The release said Seangio had been taken into custody Mar. 11 in Vancouver.

In March 2019 police said they had been investigating reports of indecent acts near York House in the Shaughnessy neighbourhood for months. Students who attend the private school range from Kindergarten to Grade 12.

BC RCMP spokesperson Dawn Roberts told Black Press Media the alleged incidents occurred while the Mountie was off duty.
