The Surrey Sport & Leisure Complex at 16555 Fraser Highway is getting some work done.

Surrey council awarded more than $1 million in contracts Monday night.

The first was for a HVAC unit replacement, with council awarding $521,325 to Modern Niagara Vancouver Inc. for the work, with an expenditure limit set at $575,000.

The second contract awarded $505,575 to Mack Kirk Roofing and Sheet Metal Ltd. for roof replacement, with the expenditure limit set at $550,000.

The new roof is expected to be finished by December.

“This is no small beans, the amounts that are needed to keep these facilities pristine, up-and-running, functioning and this is going to be very close to a future SkyTrain station so I’m really thrilled,” Coun. Laurie Guerra said. “Great for Fleetwood.”
