Surrey RCMP is seeking assistance from the public following a stabbing in the Newton area.
In a media release issued Thursday afternoon (Nov. 21), police said a report of a man injured in an assault came in to Surrey RCMP at 3 a.m. on Nov. 20.
Investigating officers learned the victim had been walking northbound on a footpath from 64 Avenue – parallel to 137 Street – when he was stabbed by an unknown suspect.
The victim was transported to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
Despite a search that included the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Services, the suspect was not located.
Members of the Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit are currently gathering evidence to identify the suspect, at this point described only as a white male.
The release states that residents can expect to see police canvassing for witnesses and CCTV in the area.
