SURREY — Police are looking for an older model silver SUV after shots were fired in the 7300-block of 125th Street in Newton on Wednesday afternoon.

Surrey Mounties were called to the scene shortly after 4 p.m.

"The initial investigation has revealed that the victim was in his vehicle in the driveway of a residence when the shots were fired," Sergeant Alanna Dunlop said. "The victim fled the area in his vehicle and it is believed that he did not sustain any injuries."

The suspect vehicle (silver SUV) took off from the scene heading south on 125th Street toward 72nd Avenue.

Dunlop said the suspect is a man about five feet seven inches tall, with short dark hair, and wore a black jacket and dark pants.

"Initial indications are that this is a targeted incident," Dunlop added.

This is Surrey 57th shooting of 2016 that has been confirmed by police. They are asking for witnesses to Wednesday's shooting to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
