Cars rollover in Surrey and buses, SkyTrains slow down across the region

Lower Mainland roads were a slippery mess Monday morning as more than a foot of snow fell in some parts of the region.

Although the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University were open, those further east like Kwantlen and Trinity Western shut their doors as streets became impassible for students.

In Surrey, multiple rollover crashes had firefighter and police out in full force to rescue trapped commuters.

Buses were stuck on hills in Vancouver and Surrey, while the Expo Line shut down between Columbia Station and Lougheed Station.

A shuttle bus is making trips between the two stations.

Both the Expo and Millennium Lines are delayed due to the weather, with TransLink saying track safety alarms are going off due to the ice and snow.

Some SkyTrains are being driver manually, so riders are told to expect longer than normal waits between trains.
