Surrey Mounties say woman was victim of unprovoked attack by a pit bull in Whalley

A 65-year-old woman has suffered serious injuries to her arm after being attacked by a a dog described as a pit bull in Whalley.

On Monday, at about 10:20 a.m., the woman was walking by a convenience store at 91 Avenue and 120 Street when she was attacked by a grey and white pit bull, police say.

She suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries to her forearm. She was taken to hospital, where she underwent surgery.

Surrey Mounties are working with the City of Surrey’s Animal Control Office to locate the dog and owner.

Officers are investigating reports the dog’s owner was in the area at the time and fled after the attack. He is described as a Caucasian male in his late 30s to early 40s, with a heavier build, wearing a black tank top, black sweat pants and a black baseball hat.
