As of Friday afternoon, the bog fire in Richmond Nature Park was burning at an estimated four hectares.

BC Wildfire and Richmond firefighters were battling the large blaze since it was discovered at 6 a.m.

Westminster Highway between Shell Road and No. 4 Road remained closed.

According to the Vancouver Fire Department, smoke is drifting into southern Vancouver neighbourhoods. City officials in Surrey said they’d received complaints about the smoke as well.

Commuters were told to take alternate routes, as fire crews brought in large hoses and trucks.
