Police determine no threat to Delta Secondary School

Police and school officials investigated March 14 after a rumour of a threat emerged on social media

Delta Police confirmed there is no threat to Delta Secondary School after investigating rumors that emerged on social media yesterday.

According to a DPD press release, officers and school administration worked together on March 14 to to determine if there was any threat to student safety.

Police also met with one of the involved parties, and school board staff were involved with families of both students throughout the evening.

“The rumour arose as a result of a disagreement between two students, that continued over social media after a verbal altercation yesterday,” said DPD public affairs coordinator Cris Leykauf in a press release.

“We want to thank the students who came forward yesterday with information, as police and the school administration were able to quickly investigate the rumours. Delta police have confirmed there is no threat to Delta Secondary School or to the students attending the school,” Leykauf said.

Police were present at the school today to answer any questions and to provide support regarding yesterdays investigation.
