North Delta crime beat, week of Dec. 12

A selection of property crimes submitted weekly by the Delta Police Department

The purpose of the crime beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. It is submitted weekly by the Delta Police Department. If you see anything occurring that you believe to be suspicious, call 911 for in progress crimes and emergencies or 604-946-4411 for other assistance.

The following are some of the calls police responded to in the previous week:

• Dec. 6, 8900-block Watson Dr.: Complainant reported the theft of their catalytic converter sometime overnight from their vehicle parked on the street. The complainant observed two possible suspects near the vehicle but was unable to provide a description. Police canvassed the area with negative results.

• Dec. 9, 11800-block 80th Ave.: Complainant reported that while they were organizing packages in the back of their delivery truck a male grabbed two packages and fled from the scene. The suspect is described as a South Asian male wearing a black ball cap, 180 cm tall with a medium build. The complainant was unable to provide any further information as the incident was so brief. Police investigation continuing pending the canvassing for surveillance video.

• Dec. 10, 8300-block 112th St.: A restaurant reported a male gained access to the store by breaking the glass out of the front door. The suspect targeted and pried two coin donation bins off the counter, placed them in a backpack and fled back out through the front door. The male is described as having an athletic build, wearing black winter jacket with a fur hood, a full-faced white mask, black gloves and pants, white/black running shoes, and a distinctive beige backpack. Estimated damage to the door is $1,000 with an approximate $400 loss from the donation bins. Surveillance video stills disseminated for possible identification of the suspect.

• Dec. 11, 11800-block 86th Ave.: Complainant reported the theft of the catalytic converter from their vehicle parked outside their residence. The theft occurred overnight and the loss is estimated at $1,000. Police attended and located video surveillance that captured the incident.
