Exciting changes coming to the ‘Surrey Now’ and ‘Surrey Leader’

Black Press, the owner of The Surrey Now and The Surrey Leader, is transforming the community newspaper model in Surrey by uniting these two iconic titles under one new umbrella.

The Surrey Now News Leader will publish every Wednesday and Friday and will become one of the largest community newspaper titles in Western Canada.

“We are extremely excited about the direction we are taking with our improved print and digital offerings,” said group publisher Dwayne Weidendorf. “The goal is for us to be the best digital and print community newspaper title in Canada – and we have the editorial, sales and distribution staff to make this happen.

“While we are elated to move forward with this stronger business model, we do recognize that The Surrey Leader and The Surrey Now have served Surrey extremely well over the past years with award-winning editorial and local advertisement that spoke to our fabulous city,” Weidendorf added. “We would like to thank all the staff, carriers, readers and advertisers, past and present, for their respective contribution to these two historic brands.”

The Surrey Now News Leader will begin publishing April 5.
