Members of the public assist Terrace RCMP in apprehension

Members of the public ended up helping Terrace RCMP with the arrest of a man who fled into a wooded area of Terrace, B.C., after a white pickup truck was involved in at least two collisions on Friday (Aug. 12).

While the driver was taken into custody, a female passenger was taken to hospital.

Police say reports started to come in at approximately 1:55 p.m. of pickup truck being driven erratically.

“The vehicle was reported to have stopped at numerous local liquor stores and eventually made its way to a rural area on the Terrace Bench where witnesses reported seeing the driver flee into a wooded area.”

Following his arrest, the man was kept in custody pending a bail hearing.

“No members of the public were reported to have been injured,” police added. The investigation is continuing.

There is a witness report of a truck striking the outside of the Skeena liquor store, causing bottles to fly off a shelf inside.

Anyone with further information is directed to contact the Terrace RCMP at 250-638-7400 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
