Bank robbery suspect sought by Surrey RCMP.

Surrey RCMP are looking for help identifying an alleged bank robbery suspect.

On Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 3:50 p.m., Surrey RCMP received a report of a bank robbery in progress near the intersection of Scott Road and Nordel Way.

The suspect, who was caught on surveillance video, produced a weapon and threatened staff before fleeing the bank.

He is described as a South Asian male in his early 20s with a thin build, wearing a black and red jacket with white stripes and the name “West Coast Selects FC” on the upper left chest.

Although no one was injured, incidents like these can be extremely traumatic for anyone involved, said Surrey RCMP Cpl. Scotty Schumann. “Institutional robberies are not victimless crimes. Protecting employees and customers is a priority for police and by identifying this suspect, we can improve safety for all.”

Anyone with more information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.solvecrime.ca
