Delta Police will begin rolling out the new vehicle design this month. It's expected to be complete in three years.

Beginning this month, the Delta Police Department is rolling out a new police vehicle design.

The new design has been in the works since 2016 and is meant to complement the colours of the department badge, which was updated in 2013 and produced by the Chief Herald of Canada.

The new badge was meant to reflect “the green and gold of Delta,” according to a DPD press release, which have since become the formal department colours.

“This new design recognizes the important balance between a strong presence while portraying our community policing principles, said DPD Chief Neil Dubord in a release to media. “I am proud of the new look, as it reflects our professionalism and modern approach to policing.”

To keep costs at a minimum, the DPD is planning a progressive roll-out of the new design, meaning current vehicles will not be re-decalled. Instead, new vehicles will be branded with the new design as they are procured.

Completion of the project is expected to take three years.
