On June 3, police received a report that a group of teens were trying to gain access to Ladner Elementary School.
“We know that our teens want to have a fun summer, and we want the same for them. Fun doesn’t have to include destroying other people’s property or breaking into buildings,” police said on Instagram.
“This summer our officers want to have positive interactions with the youth of Delta, rather than explaining to their parents why they’re arriving home in the back of a police car.”
Also last week, DPD officers took four impaired drivers off the road, serving three 90-day immediate roadside prohibitions (IRPs) and one 24-hour warning for drugs.
In one of these instances, a quick thinking member of the public called 911 when they witnessed two women who seemed impaired get into a vehicle and drive away.
“Because of the astute actions of this person, police were able to quickly locate the vehicle,” police said.
The driver blew a “fail” into the approved screening device, and is now prohibited from driving for 90 days.
The week prior, Delta police served seven IRPs: three 90-day prohibitions, three three-day warnings and one 24-hour warnings.
If you suspect someone is driving while impaired, please call 911.
