The regular North Delta and South Delta crime beats are on vacation, but will be back as usual next week.
In the meantime, here’s a snapshot of calls received by Delta police the week of July 11 to 17:
• Number of completed calls: 542
• General occurrence reports created: 454
• False/abandoned 911 calls: 66
• Assisting the public: 44
• Collisions: 25
• Break-and-enters: 10
• Frauds: 5
Also last week, DPD officers took nine impaired drivers off the road, serving three 90-day immediate roadside prohibitions (IRPs) and three three-day prohibitions, three 24-hour IRPs — two for drug impairment and one for alcohol.
If you believe that someone is driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, please call 911.
Last Thursday (July 14), the DPD’s commercial vehicle enforcement unit, alongside partner agencies, conducted vehicle inspections on Deltaport Way. Officers completed 29 inspections, observing 55 violations. In all, 18 vehicles were taken off the road and officers handed out 24 violation tickets.
Police said the three most common violations inspectors came across were defective brakes, defective tires and defective air lines.
