Surrey RCMP say there were minor injuries after a vehicle crashed into a power pole in South Surrey Wednesday morning.

The two-vehicle collision caused a live power pole to dangle over 16 Avenue, between 192 and 184 Streets, for some time before BC Hydro was able to secure the scene.

“A Ford F150 was travelling westbound on 16 Avenue making a left turn into the gas station near 184 Street and was struck by a Nissan Pathfinder travelling eastbound on 16 Avenue. The Nissan subsequently crashed into a power pole,” Sgt. Chad Greig emailed to Peace Arch News.

One passenger, from the Nissan, was taken to hospital for observation.

“Both driver’s remained on scene and cooperated with police. Alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor.”

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
