• Culture Days Open Stage: Sept. 27, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at North Delta Centre for the Arts, 11425 84th Ave. Entertain and be entertained! Share the stage with a variety of singers, musicians, poets, actors and dancers in this intergenerational monthly event. Performing not your thing? Then sit back and enjoy the show! Doors open at 7, show starts at 7:30 p.m. Light refreshments served. • Delta Studio Stomp: Sept. 28 and 29, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at various locations across North Delta. Meet local artists and watch them creat during the 11th annual North Delta open studio tour. This is a free event, with a portion of any art sales donated to the Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation. • North Delta Artisan & Gift Market Pop-Up: Sept. 28, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Sweet Serenity Yoga & Wellness, 8330 112th St. North Delta Artisan & Gift Market and Sweet Serenity Yoga & Wellness is hosting a "Hearts for Hooves" pop-up market to raise funds for Perfect Pastures Animal Sanctuary. • Delta North All-Candidates Meeting: Sept. 28, 2 p.m. at Northside Community Church, 11300 84th Ave. The Delta Residents Association is hosting and in-person all-candidates meeting for Delta North Delta. Doors will open at 1:45 p.m. for this event.

• InkWellTold: Sept. 28, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at North Delta Centre for the Arts, 11415 84th Ave. In partnership with Delta Literary Arts Society and the City of Delta, InkWellTold is a free quarterly reading-in-conversation series where two guest writers and a host converse on a pre-selected topic, with plenty of opportunities for audience members to ask questions and interact with the host and speakers. Join "spooky sisters" Gina Armstrong and Victoria Vancek, authors of Evenings & Avenues – Hauntings in the Outskirts, and host Angela Rebrec for a Halloween-inspired InkWellTold as they discuss their exploration and writing in the darker realms of history and folklore. • September Square Dance Dinner Social: Sept. 28, 4:45 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Kennedy Seniors' Recreation Centre, 11760 88th Ave. Bring out your western garb as we learn to square dance with the help of caller Tyler Wagner. Our menu will be salad, chili and buns with dessert, all thanks to our own Café 88. Doors open at 4:45, dinner will be served at 5:30, and entertainment will run from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets cost $23 for members and $28 for guests (max four tickets per person). • Writers’ Circles: First Wednesday of the month (Oct. 2), 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the George Mackie Library; First Sunday of the month (Oct. 6), 12 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. at Douglas J Husband Discovery Centre. Delta Literary Arts Society hosts these supportive gatherings for writers of all levels with prompts, optional sharing and time for socializing led by caring and creative facilitators Angela Rebrec (Ladner dates) and Anna Eastland (North Delta dates). Sponsored by the City of Delta and Fraser Valley Regional Library.

• Where Olive Trees Weep: Oct. 2, 6 p.m at Crossroads United Church, 7655 Scott Rd. The acclaimed documentary Where Olive Trees Weep offers a powerful glimpse into the resilience and hardships of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation. The film is a poignant exploration of loss, trauma and the enduring quest for justice. This showing comes at a time when the occupied territories of the West Bank are witnessing an unprecedented amount of violence perpetuated by extremist Israeli settlers and Israeli occupation forces, amid an ongoing genocide in Gazza. The viewing will be followed by a panel discussion featuring two Palestinians who have experienced life in the West Bank under Israeli occupation, moderated by Sid Shniad of Independent Jewish Voices. A limited number of tickets will also be available at the door on first come, first served basis. All proceeds will be donated to Save The Children International – Palestine. The screening is organized by: Crossroads United Church, Global Peace Alliance – BC Society, Independent Jewish Voices – Vancouver, and Labour for Palestine – Vancouver Chapter.

• To Perfection: Oct. 2-6 at Genesis Theatre, 5005 45th Ave., Ladner. Delta Stageworks proudly presents "To Perfection," written by Meghan Gardiner and directed by Renee Iaci. Wholesome and hearty. Fresh and frosty…Is it cake? Or is it To Perfection? Gloria, a former celebrity TV chef played by the inimitable Patti Allan, is reuniting with her estranged grandchild, Alex. The temperature rises when Alex (Cece Ludwar) comes out as non-binary and opens a "genderational" divide between them. Can Gloria and Alex find the perfect mix for their family recipe? Or will it all bubble over and explode? To Perfection tackles issues of modern life without the sugar coating, showing us family conflict in a relatable and hilarious way and ensuring audiences discover all the right ingredients for the perfect food-for-thought theatre outing. • Delta Chamber of Commerce Delta North All-Candidates Meeting: Oct. 10, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Seaquam Secondary School, 11584 Lyon Rd. Join us at the Delta North all-candidates meeting presented by the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board (FVREB). We invite everyone to join us for the all Candidates session in Delta North for the 2024 provincial election. The evenings' discussions will have a business perspective, focusing on key topics such as transportation, housing, employment, growth, and investment. • Delta Ukulele Circle: First Saturday of the month (Oct. 5), 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.; North Delta Centre for the Arts, 11425 84th Ave.; Led by Gary Cyr, the Delta Ukulele Circle is an enthusiastic, welcoming and supportive crowd of music lovers with an appreciation for the ukulele. This tiny instrument provides a unique opportunity for individuals wanting to play and enjoy music together with others in a very social setting. Admission is $5. • Ready, Set, Pull!: Oct. 5 at Forest Bay Park Reserve in Tsawwassen, and Oct. 19 at Ladner Harbour Park, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Delta is inviting everyone who lives, works or plays in our city to volunteer for our Community Weed Pull events. Amazing progress has been made and we hope to continue the trend. Why is ivy being removed? Check out the video "Invasive Species - English Ivy" on YouTube. Snacks, gloves, equipment, and training will be provided, so even if you have never done a weed pull before, you are more than welcome to come! Community weed pulls are an awesome way for you to learn about our natural ecosystems and take an active role in their protection. HEALTH/WELLNESS 

• Yin Yoga: Every Monday, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Deltassist, 9097 120th St.; The main goal of Yin Yoga is to open joints, stretch deep tissue and release deep, long held emotion. In Yin Yoga we learn how to better listen to our bodies, by allowing ourselves to slow down enough to listen to the clues from the unconscious mind of what is actually going on we learn everything we need to know. Note: You will want to have a few pillows (couch, bed or throw pillows will work fine), as well as a blanket or two to ensure you are nice and comfy as well as fully supported for your practice.
