• Carly Reirson: July 12, 1 to 2 p.m. at the North Delta Social Heart Plaza, 11415 84th Ave. Multiple award-winning soul-folk songbird Carly Reirson is playing a free outdoor show at the North Delta Social Heart Plaza as part of the City of Delta's 2025 Concerts in the Park series. Reirson transports listeners to a world of nostalgia and timeless emotions with her soaring melodies and honest lyrics. An old soul at heart, Reirson's music resonates with a deep sense of authenticity, weaving tales of love and heartache that transcend generations. Her velvety yet soul-stirring voice invites you to delve into the depths of your own feelings as she shares her stories of love, loss and solitude. Her new album, Diary of a Beating Heart, is a raw exploration into the worlds of human experience, both painful and beautiful. • Tea for Two: July 18, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Elliott Street Wharf, 5000 Elliott St. Tea For Two is a jazz/pop duo featuring Richard White and Aidan Farrell. With both providing vocals and Aidan on keys, they perform a range of music, from well-known jazz standards to R&B to soul to pop, with original arrangements and tight harmonies. Tea For Two treads the line between sophistication and fun to provide audiences with elevated music experience. Both Richard and Aidan wish to not only entertain but to create an infectiously fun energy that'll make any occasion that much more special and memorable. • Delta Concert Band: July 22, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sunshine Hills Park, 11195 Bond Blvd. Bands have been providing concerts for the citizens of Delta since the 1800s, and the Delta Concert Band (formerly the Delta Community Band) has been carrying on this musical tradition ever since its first concert in May 1965. The DCB has also represented Delta throughout the Lower Mainland and B.C., as well as in Hawaii, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, England and Scotland. Though primarily composed of adult-age musicians, we invite qualified, secondary school band students to play in the DCB for free. • Matthew Presidente: July 29, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at North Delta Social Heart Plaza, 11415 84th Ave. Matthew Presidente, Vancouver’s piano man, is a bold rock/pop songwriter known for high-energy, piano-driven performances. Praised by Xtra Magazine as “one of — if not — the best singer/songwriters our LGBT scene has,” he went full-time in 2022, touring B.C. and earning a Creative BC grant to record with. In 2023/24, he played over 200 shows, including The Fox, The Rickshaw, and Pride stages across B.C. and Alberta. • Karima Essa Bollywood Star Dance and Workshop: July 23, 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at George Mackie Library, 8440 112th St. Celebrate Fraser Valley Regional Library's Summer Reading Club with Karima Essa! In her trademark charming and humorous style, award-winning Bollywood dancer and choreographer Karima Essa showcases Bollywood dance as a fun cultural art form by opening with an electrifying dance in full regalia. She'll then lead a fun and engaging dance workshop to inspire people of all ages and abilities to get up and dance along with her. You'll learn the basic elements of Bollywood dance, including signature neck and head movements, facial expressions and foot and hand movements, to current Bollywood hits, while using props such as scarves. • Delta Community Animal Expo: Aug. 10, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Memorial Park, 5010 47th Ave. The Delta Community Animal Shelter, alongside FortisBC, proudly presents the Delta Community Animal Expo at Ladner's Memorial Park. Bring your leashed, friendly dog(s), check out the local vendors and pet organizations, and participate in games and contests including the Poop Through the Hoop Contest, Rubber Ducky Relay and others. There will also be demonstrations in dog agility, dog disc golf and training, as well as scent tracking with the Delta Police Department, all while enjoying food trucks and learning about amazing animals and pets for adoption. This annual event provides a fun-filled experience for the whole family while raising awareness and funds for the Tollie Fund. The fund enables the shelter to go above and beyond by providing veterinary care, behaviour rehabilitation and other essential support to help Delta’s shelter animals find healthy, successful adoptions.
